It’s fair to say that running wasn’t a natural choice for me. I ran Brighton Marathon in 2014, hated every minute of it and didn’t run again for another three years. As far as I was concerned, it was painful, boring and wholly pointless.
A couple of years ago, I went through a particularly bad time. My mental health suffered and I got larger by the day. One day I decided I could either keep getting worse or do something about it. That weekend I bought a pair of running shoes.
Two years later, I’ve run a total of 39 marathons (including 19 ultra marathons), slashed my marathon PB from 4:27:28 to 03:08:04, completed 10 ultra marathons in 10 days and will shortly compete in my first 100 mile ultra.
